Lab Class Photovoltaics (summer semester 2026)

In this laboratory, students are expected to fabricate highly efficient perovskite solar cells themselves over the course of several consecutive modules and to characterise them in detail.

Content

  • Hands-on laboratory work
  • Awareness of safe chemical handling
  • Introduction to spin-coating and thermal evaporation fabrication techniques, and their place within the context of other solar cell fabrication methods
  • Introduction to characterisation methods: XRD, (absolute) photoluminescence, IV, quantum efficiency
  • Deepening understanding of solar cells (experiencing IV parameters, etc.)
  • Deepening understanding of loss mechanisms in solar cells
  • Demonstrating the concept of the bandgap in perovskite solar cells
  • Raising awareness of remaining stability issues
  • Overall enjoyment and interest in PV

Schedule (Update May 2026)

This semester, the lab will take place in June 2026. The exact dates will be announced by the tutor on Stud.IP
